The Texas Legislature established a requirement for State issued electrical licenses. Most electricians licensed by cities have already applied for the new State license. Starting September 1, 2004 the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation will enforce the requirement for statewide licensing of electricians
The Good news is that on-site installers are exempt from the licensing requirement for electrical work on on-site installations!
If you have been doing the electrical work youself on on-site installations in unincorporated areas, you still can under the on-site installer exemption . . . but only for on-site systems.
Environmental Training Systems has responded by developing an 8 hour training class to cover basic electrical skills needed by on-site installers. Expect this class to be offered sometime in 2005. Those of you who attended our "Troubleshooting" class got a taste of troubleshooting electrical motor circuits and aerobic control circuits. The new class has been developed by Mark Hansen, a licensed Master Electrician, Licensed On-site Installer and Licensed Irrigator with over 25 years of practical experience. The class will be an in-depth, very relevant, up to date class on basic electrical skills and the National Electric Code. More information will follow shortly. Check back.
